Short History of the Fairview Community Theater

For the last several years, our little city of Fairview has seen some impressive growth.  As our city has developed, so have the interests and diversity of our population.  Not only has the city gown in size, but we have also seen a growth in vision; small businesses and large businesses alike have made Fairview their home. As these new ventures began, a small group of interested citizens had their own vision of starting a community theater group to grow alongside our bustling city. With the decline of public arts funding in our schools and communities, these citizens knew it was more important than ever to encourage and promote the funding of the arts. Participating in dramatic productions has been proven to build confidence, self-esteem, the ability to organize and prioritize, and also serve to develop qualities of leadership and teamwork. They believed that this new group could provide these opportunities to those who might not otherwise have them, and will create a sense of pride in successfully completed projects. With this in mind, this core group of motivated individuals decided “there’s no time like the present,” and in early 2016 they began hammering out the details to establish Fairview’s first ever community theater group.

The Fairview Theater Organizing Committee was established to determine interest, and they began holding meetings in early 2016.  In just one year of organization, the Fairview Community Theater accomplished the following:

  • By-laws were drafted and approved
  • Officers were elected
  • The Fairview Community Theater was incorporated in the State of Tennessee
  • The 501(c)(3) non-profit status was approved by the State in October of 2016
  • Membership dues were established and collected
  • The first play, Paradise Lost and Found, was cast and produced at the Williamson County Recreation Center in Fairview (April 2017)

Since then, Fairview Community Theater has established a two show season, with productions taking place each winter and summer.
